Hey chickens!
So in my last post I wrote about my job as a scare actor at Pleasureland in Southport. I only have 2 days left working there, and it's been great fun! Definitely would love to work with them again. I think I also mentioned (may have forgotten to but I'm too lazy to check!) that I was hired by a local salon to be their nail tech. I started this job on Thursday and I LOVE it! It's a gorgeous salon, the environment is friendly, the customers are lovely... and I love my little nail bar <3
I've begun uploading some photos of my work on clients to my instagram, as you may have seen. Yesterday I got to work on some brilliant people. My first customer was an adorable older lady who was going to a Black and White ball, so she wanted to look stellar! After umming and ahhing over swatches of deep red, sparkly black, gold or silver, we came to the conclusion that sparkly silver nails were the way to go, and, being me, I wanted to add an extra little something special for her. Since it was a black tie event, I asked her if she'd like a little black bow on her ring fingers. To my surprise she was game for it, so I did them (small and subtle, as I thought she'd suit that), and as soon as they cured she looked at the tiny bows and.... oh, I wish I'd had a camera - her face was a picture. It looked like she'd never seen something so cute :3 After having her nails done she then moved on to get her hair done. She looked so gorgeous leaving the salon, and I hope she had a smashing night raising lots of money for a charity (even if she wasn't actually sure which charity it was :p)
The next lady I had in had a full Deluxe manicure booked. I haven't done that in ages so I was pretty nervous. Thankfully it all went well and I think she may have sensed that I was nervous, so she would just mention every now and then how relaxed she felt, how much she was enjoying it... I love people like that :) She was a good laugh too, so I felt happy working on her and in the end I felt much more confident. My boss and I also conspired to convince her to get some cheeky sparkle on her nails ('convinced' is probably the wrong word as it really didn't take much :'D) By the end she was so happy with the result that she's now booked in with me every week for a pamper sesh! I'm definitely excited to see her again!
As much as I love doing nails, I think my favourite thing about this job is just talking to people. Getting to know them, what makes them tick and what their lives are about. You never imagine someone working in a labouring, hands on job enjoying a lovely hour of pampering at the weekend. You think of an older lady going to a nail salon and asking for a french, never having it cross your mind they'll be struggling to choose between different shades of deep red/black/gold or silver, sparkle being an absolute must and being totally up for experimenting with nail art. Honestly, I love this job, and I feel very lucky right now! Also my boss has ordered chrome powder for me so I finally get to try it! :D Aaaahhh!!
I guess that's all for now, except Happy Halloween tomorrow! Hope you all have a fabulous fright-tastic night... with cracking creepy nail art, of course ;)
Lots of love,
Rainbow Jojo x
